Today I’m sharing a fun collab our family did with Tay’s Workshop! I’ve been shop friends with the owner’s wife (they also own NCC!) for several years and they just recently launched a new brand that’s sooo innovative and fun!

They sent us several DIY ornaments kits - which comes with the base (ornament) and festive pieces you can individually to each one. My kids had the best time picking out which ones they wanted and they loved that they were all different (because it’s not cool when your younger sibling copies you 🤣).

Now, if you’ve been following me for a bit, you know I *despise* messes. But I also love DIY. I can usually make a sacrifice for a creative project that’s going to be something that hangs around or we keep forever. I let the kids do this outside on some cardboard boxes and paper plates and clean up wasn’t a big thing at all. I love that I can write their names, ages, and the (wild) year we made these together to look back on for years to come. These are total keepsakes!
If you want to skip the acrylic paint, I don’t blame you at all 😄 - you can also use washable markers on these and let your kiddos color away on them! I will humbly brag and say my kids surprised me and did a really great job with just the acrylic paint. I think it helped a ton to buy some of those cheap, skinny paint brushes - so that’s my tip! Even Honey (age 3), impressed me with how well she did with painting the small pieces!!!

Once they were dry I glued them on with some Gorilla Glue — took me all of a few minutes one afternoon while the kids were at school.
I also left a few of them “unfinished” - I think it gives the ornaments a rustic farmhouse-y vibe just unpainted on their own!

Tay's has other fun character ornaments that come assembled but are still paint/color-able, too. He can also do custom/pre made designs wood signs - and just recently they made some super cool glass lasered night lights!
Make sure to give them a follow on Instagram as that’s where they are taking custom orders! Supporting small business is so important now more than ever, so consider grabbing some goodies to put on or even under your tree from here!
